Bucharest CyberDrill
Bucharest CyberDrill exercise for the European Region will be organized in partnership with the Polytechnica University of Bucharest between 27 and 31 May 2019, in Bucharest, Romania.
- Cyber Drill is an international cybersecurity event that aims to bring together relevant parties from both the public and private sectors, in order to enhance collaboration.
- Traditionally organized by ITU, the Drill is open to national CIRTs/CSIRTs, ministries, regulators, telecommunication operators, universities and general education institutions, telecommunication equipment manufacturers, research and design institutes, software developers and other interested stakeholders of the ITU Member States, Sector Members and Associates.
- This is why the event has 3 types of activities that go hand in hand with ITU’s active approach. The first two days of the event is a training on CIRTs/CSIRTs management which will be organized in collaboration with the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST). It is strongly recommended that at least two technical team members and one management level staff be present. To ensure the quality of courses, places are limited to 40 persons.
- The third day is dedicated to a series of workshops on current cybersecurity issues which is an open forum for ICT professionals and decision makers in government, industry, academia and NGOs to discuss their ideas for improving cybersecurity and resiliency for security in the region.
- The cyber drill exercises take place on the last two days and are structured around different scenarios involving the most common types of cyber attacks.
- This 5 day cycle (2 day training courses, 1 day of workshops and 2 days of cyber exercises) facilitates collaboration, information gathering and training, as well as testing technical abilities and incident handling procedures. Working together is the right way to know each other in this field, especially since cyber security is about establishing trust.
- It is the first time this high level international event is organized in Romania and the Polytechnic University of Bucharest is the perfect environment to make this happen.
