We are waiting for you to discover University Politehnica of Bucharest

We cannot predict the future, but we can help shape it.
The world is the creation out of our minds.
Sir Ken Robinson

Human intelligence is the only inexhaustible resource capable of shaping the world we live in. Education, creativity, culture, traditions, beliefs, values and experiences of humanity, ideas and innovations build the world we live in. We did not accidentally start with education because it is here we start to make our way in life, use our intelligence, creativity and imagination to make “a world out of our minds.”

We live in a world of unpredictable change, whose frequency and amplitude generates unprecedented challenges. To be able to cope with these challenges we need to develop our own capabilities and use the full intellectual potential we have. Education helps us to discover and evolve through knowledge, to be compatible with the world out of our minds.

Certainly, education and professional training are the keys to the future, and in this context technologies are crucial to the evolution of mankind. Technology, in addition to radically transforming the evolution of society, also allows reinventing education and increasing its accessibility.

In modern Romania, the effort to synchronize with Western civilization was permanent. This was the reason for the formation of the School of Certified Engineers at the St. Sava Abbey in 1818. Gheorghe Lazăr, after studying engineering in Vienna and is in charge with organising the first form of technical education in the Romanian Principalities, was sending in 1818 his call: “come young people from all over the country and all origins”.

The School of Engineers was formed in response to a need of the society of those times: the need to build. Since then, the generations of teachers and students who have written the history of our university have increased the performance and value and contributed to the construction of Romania.

Today, the University Politehnica of Bucharest with its 15 faculties, 54 departments, 28,000 students, 2300 teaching staff and auxiliary and administrative staff, is prepared for a world where technologies evolve at a rapid pace where no action can be conceived without access to advanced technologies.

The University Politehnica of Bucharest has as a mission professional training through creative education, innovation, knowledge and scientific research. In the university, at any time, but especially in the 21st century, the young people who come there must discover their creative potential and find themselves, in order to become they have chosen to be. All schools are unique, and as this statement is true, it is also true that each of us, students or teachers are unique, as a result the learning process needs to be personalized.

Personally, at the end of the high school, I decided to choose University Politehnica of Bucharest, where I graduated and then started teaching. Impressed by the academic dimension of the university’s nearly 200-year history, the value of my teachers, the way the academic community evolves through rigor and performance, I would choose the same today. I am the product of the education given by my family, my teachers and university professors, and I owe my professional career to the academic community at the University Politehnica of Bucharest where I am a professor. Every time I find many arguments to convince the high school students that the University Politehnica of Bucharest offers you what is very important in life: a way to think and reason logically, systemically, rigorously, and the knowledge to do things with what you have learned.

It is not a school easy to graduate, but neither is life nor professional careers, therefore, the difficulties prepare you better and they matter for something that is not yet written on the diploma – the life experience.

The University Politehnica of Bucharest is constantly concerned with increasing the performance in the formation of young engineers, in the scientific research activity through which it develops and produces knowledge and by participating in the achievement of a Common Space of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the European Union and the world.

In order to always have a successful University, we must have motivated students and teachers and the power to convince how important the role of academic communities in the evolution of society is. In order to achieve the performances we want, we attract the best high school graduates, whom we encourage and motivate to independently judge, to be persevering and brave in assuming their own professional career. We also have to tell those who wait at the gates of the university that here, they will be helped to discover their own creative forces, to develop their skills and to become more efficient in managing the problems of their future.

I believe that education and professional training are the keys to the future. One of the keys is in the pocket of the high school graduates that we invite to open the door of our university. With the second key, they will go at the graduation to open the gates of the future.
