Two centuries ago, the University Politehnica of Bucharest was founded to accelerate the nations’s industrial revolution. Back then, a group of extraordinary people decided to create a place where openness, talent and  equality of opportunity could nurture creativity and genuine social change. And that is exactly what happened – a community succeeded in changing a country and contributed to the development of the European region it pertained to, by being open, innovative and celebrating creativity. Today, these values are the foundation of our university and the DNA of all our activities and community.

Recognised for their ingenuity and drive, our graduates have invented fundamental technologies, launched new industries and changed the course of our history through leadership and vision. At the same time, we are profoundly global. With partner universities in over 200 countries, our community is a true magnet for talent all around the world. With us, international students receive not only the warmest welcome in our community, but also the finest engineering education Romania has to give. With 15 faculties, 54 departments and almost 30 000 students yearly, our results  and experience speak for themselves.

The UPB community is driven by a shared purpose: to make the world better, through education, research and innovation. We are  fun, friendly, unconventional, elite but not elitist, with a passion for numbers and welcoming to talented people, regardless of where they come from. We have the largest student campus in the country, a symbol that speaks about our intention to build characters but also connections. As new students enter our premises, they find a vibrant surrounding, brimming with ideas and energy. We have some of the best equipped research laboratories in the region and people dedicated to help students learn how to interact with cutting-edge research equipment. Our CAMPUS and PRECIS research centres gather over 70 fully equipped research laboratories dedicated to some of the most important topics of our times: clean energy, environment sustainability, artificial intelligence, robotics and many more. With us, creative researchers truly have the opportunity to pioneer the frontiers of their fields.

Last but definitely not least, cutting-edge research and dynamic learning are complemented by student associations dedicated to entrepreneurship, volunteering, professional counselling, free recruiting services and an Alumni community which today is one of the largest gathering of entrepreneurs, engineers and experts in the country. We believe that the brilliant, confident spirit that animates UPB students creates everlasting friendships and collaborations but can also inspire a new generation of young people to help us invent the future.

The remarkable events and ethos that continue to spring from the minds of thousands of people within our community stand as proof of our enthusiasm and convictions. We believe in innovation and technology, and we think that engineers have the capability to understand and change the world, to build our future. As many people say, engineering and technology are the closest thing to magic that exists in the real world. But when we believe in a brighter future, it is not faith in technology.
